The data
Everything CRNA keeps its own database of every accredited nurse anesthesia program, updated October 2026. We collect each figure from the program's website, its published outcomes and, where a program doesn't publish a figure, from its admissions office. Every program page links to the source for each data point where we have one.
Everything CRNA Score (0 to 100)
- Outcomes, 40%: first-time NCE pass rate (counted double), attrition (lower is better) and employment within six months.
- Clinical experience, 20%: average anesthesia cases per student and number of clinical sites.
- Value, 20%: total tuition and fees at the in-state or single rate (lower is better; military programs with no tuition score highest).
- Reputation, 20%: the 2024 US News peer rank for nurse anesthesia programs.
Each measure is converted to a percentile against all programs that report it, so a score of 80 on a measure means the program does better than about 80% of programs. If a measure is missing within a pillar, the other measures in that pillar carry its weight. If a whole pillar is missing, it counts as a below-average 35, so programs gain nothing from not publishing data.
Who is ranked: programs that publish a first-time NCE pass rate and have data in at least three of the four pillars, and were established before 2023. Newer programs are listed separately.
Admission Odds Index (0 to 100)
How attainable a program is on paper: acceptance rate (40%), minimum GPA (15%, lower is more attainable), GRE (10%), CCRN (10%), shadowing (5%), whether NICU and PICU experience count (10%) and minimum years of ICU (10%). Programs need at least four of these measures to get an index.
Value Score (0 to 100)
Outcomes (60%) combined with total cost (40%).
Limits
- Small classes make pass and attrition rates jumpy from year to year.
- Programs measure attrition differently.
- Tuition excludes living costs, which vary hugely by city.
- The reputation measure reflects peer opinion, not outcomes.
